Silk Route Tour Sikkim is referred to a trade route between China and India. This route is a Mountainous Road connect Lhasa in Tibet via the Jelep La Pass to India. This route now are the parts eastern Sikkim and West Bengal. This route is a scenic wonderland of geographical and natural landscape of eternal beauty.

Thambi View Point located north of Zuluk, is situated at an altitude of 11,600 ft. offers an excellent sunrise view. From Thambi View Point you can have marvelous view of the Kunchenjunga Range and also the zig-zag road with its 99 turns. Make sure to visit in the early morning to avoid clouds obstruction. (As per locals they have sighted Yeti or Banjhakri(in Nepali), remember the abominable snowman from Tintin In Tibet. You can here hear stories from locals here).
Lungthung very close to Thambi Valley is at an altitude of 11,500 ft. offers an exiting view of the Kunchenjunga, Sunrise, Sunset as well as the serpentine Zig Zag Road. The complete area of Lungthung falls under Pangolakha Wildlife Sanctuary with home to different types of rhododendrons, ferns, birds and animals. The area has high army presence due to proximity of the China border.
Menmecho & Elephant Lake If you travel further north from Gnathang Valley you come to Kupup. Here on both sides of the road are two Lakes. On The right is the Elephant/Kupup lake which can be viewed from the Elephant Lake View Point on the main road and if you want you can take next right turn and go the edge of the lake. Menmecho Lake is however is on the left side of the main road and you have to trek for considerable distance to reach the lake.
Jelep La(Pass) Do not get confused Its is same route and probably there was a previous road near Tukla which crossed over to China before the Nathula Pass was build.
Kupuk Yak Army Golf Course & Environmental Park boasts of Guinness Book listing for the highest golf course in the world.
Tukla Valley is the place where the so called Old Baba Mandir is located. It 12500 ft. Tukla valley contains a war memorial, which was constructed to commemorate the death of British soldiers in their military expedition to expel Tibetan forces from Sikkim in 1888.
Lampokhari/Aritar Lake is one of the natural lake in Sikkim and recently artificially constructed for the tourism. Altitude of 4600 ftit is the only lake with boating facility in Sikkim. Aritar Gumpa or Monastery is famous for its traditional architecture, carved and painted murals, rare manuscript and artifacts.
Sillery Gaon/Pedong/Icchegaon are villages in West Bengal which offer an excellent view of Mount Kunchenjunga. These are quite locations along the Silk Route which is being promoted as part of village tourism. These places does not have much activity but one can visit Damsang Fort Ruins, Sangchen Dorjee Monastery and the Cross Hill. The Cross Hill commands a glorious view of the facing mountains and you can get a glimpse of Tibet and the People's Republic of Chinese border and also a perfect sunset point.

Old Silk Route Tour can be either approached from the Gangtok side and exiting via kalimpong or if you prefer to start from the Kalimpong side stay at higher altitudes like Zuluk, Nathang Valley, Padamchen, Aritar, Sillery Gaon and return back through Kalimpong route. You can start from Gangtok and cover the entire route staying 2 nights in any of the above places and proceed towards your next destination. Or you can take a longer duration of 4/5/6 Nights stay and enjoy the unique charm of this historic route. Whichever you choose you will not repent your holidays here. We organize all inclusive tour packages from New Jalpaiguri Station or Bagdogra Airport with premium cars like Innova or Scorpio Car or Small Cars for small family Groups.
Inner line permits are compulsory and issued only by Gangtok Police or from the Rongli Police check post and entry is strictly available for Indian citizens only. One needs to have Indian identity proof and carry photographs for the permits. People of non Indian origin are not allowed in these regions it is considered sensitive for its proximity to China Border. Non Indians can however travel up to Gangtok and Aritar without any permits. Only Sikkim registered vehicles are issued inner line permits.

Option 1- Sikkim Silk Route Tour Plan In4 Days
Day 1 NJP/Bagdogra to Aritar – Take a nature walk in the forest and visit monastery. Overnight at Aritar.
Day 2 Aritar to Padamchen/ Zuluk – Sunrise over Mt. Kanchenjungha from Mankhim. Sightseeing at Lampokhari (Aritar Lake), British Bungalow, Rai Temple, Kuikhola Waterfalls, Lingtum. Overnight at Padamchen/ Zuluk.
Day 3 Padamchen/ Zuluk to Silk Route Main Attraction then to Sillery Gaon– Morning trip to Thambi View point and continue to Nathang. Sightseeing at Zuluk, Zig Zag road, Lungthung Old Baba Mandir, Kupup Lake, Menmecho Lake (you have to trek to reach Menmecho), Tukla Valley, Jelepla Pass, Yak Golf Course, Ice Hockey Field. Then Drive and reach Sillery Gaon.
Day 4 Sillery Gaon to NJP/Bagdogra – After Breakfast Transfer To New Jalpaiguri/Bagdogra.

Day 1 NJP/Bagdogra to Sillery Gaon – Take a nature walk in the forest. Overnight at Sillery Gaon.

Day 4 Zuluk/Padamchen to Gangtok – Early morning sunrise trip to Eagle’s Nest Bunker/ Lungthung (extra chargeable on spot). Return to Nathang for breakfast. Leave Nathang after breakfast for Gangtok. On the way sightseeing at Old Baba Mandir, Kupup Lake, New Baba Mandir, Menmecho Lake (you have to trek to reach Menmecho), Tukla Valley, Jelepla Pass, Yak Golf Course, Ice Hockey Field, Four Lake Point, Tsomgo (Changu) Lake. Drop at Gangtok to end Sikkim Silk Route Tour.
DAY 1: NJP to Sillerygaon:
Pickup at NJP or Bagdogra travel to Sillerygaon, a distance covered in about 3.5 to 4 hrs. Situated at an altitude of 6,000 ft. This place is being proclaimed as the "New Darjeeling" because of its beautiful view of the Kanchendzonga. Overnight stay at Sillerygaon.
DAY 2: Sillerygaon to Zuluk-Via-Aritar:
After breakfast, leave for Zuluk. Visit the Aritar / Lampokhari lake and enjoy paddle boating in the lake's calm water (Optional and at your own cost) and make a Parikrama of this Holy Lake. After that, stop at Rongli for Restricted Area Permit. See the Kuekhola Falls on the way. Then go through Lingtam, Padamchen to reach Zuluk. If you so wish, you can visit the Shivalaya Baba Mandir (No vehicle required). Cherish the sunset beauty at Zuluk from Balasiur sunset point (Walkable distance, no vehicle required). Overnight at Zuluk/Padamchen.
DAY 3: Zuluk OR Padamchen Sightseeing and Overnight at Zuluk:
Enjoy the morning glory of the Kanchendzonga from Golden to Silver and then enjoy the sunrise over the hills of Bhutan, a unique view comparable to the best sunrise in India. Go back to Zuluk after viewing sunrise and follow the Silk Route Trail after breakfast. Enjoy the beauty of Thambi Viewpoint, LaxmiChowk, TuklaKalapokhari, Tukla Baba Mandir, Tukla valley, Jelepla Pass View Point and reach Kupup. Don’t miss the HathiPokhari Lake. At Kupup, see the World’s highest Golf course, the Yak Golf Course at 13025 ft (As per Guinness Book of World Records), the Ice Hockey ground and the young Husband’s Track. After that, move to Gnathang. Gnathang or Gnathang Valley is popularly referred to as "The Ladakh of East India". Rest of the day is at leisure at Zuluk.
Day 4: Zuluk to Rishikhola:
After breakfast, check out from Zuluk proceeds to Rishikhola. A little valley situated on the bank of the river Reshi. With the wonderful natural surroundings of lush green huge trees, numerous Himalayan and sub-Himalayan birds. Sightseeing at Rishikhola.
Day 5: Rishikhola to NJP/Bagdogra:
After a good breakfast on the way to Siliguri/NJP/IXB with Sikkim Silk Route Tour memories.
